Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about finding care and listing your practice.

For pet owners

How do I find a vet near me?
On the home page, enter a symptom, service, specialty, amenity, or clinic name in the first field. In the location field, select a U.S. city suggestion, enter a 5-digit ZIP code, or use your current location, then select Find Care. Leave the first field blank to browse all nearby clinics. On the results page, use Open Now and Filters to refine by care type, promotions, cost and access, services, or specialties. Location searches start within 10 miles. If no clinics match, you can expand the radius or try another location.
What areas does Vetmodo cover?
Vetmodo is a nationwide directory with clinics across the United States. Coverage depth varies by area while our nationwide import pipeline continuously adds and refreshes clinic information.
Do I need an account to search for vets?
No. Searching the directory is free and does not require an account. Pet owners need a free member account with a verified email to submit and manage ratings. Clinic owners also use accounts to claim and manage listings.
Is Vetmodo free to use?
Searching the directory is free for pet owners. Clinic owners can list for free under the Basic tier; Featured and Spotlight memberships add paid search placement and public promotion slots.
What should I do in a pet emergency?
Contact a 24-hour emergency veterinary clinic immediately. Choose 'Find 24-Hour Emergency Care' on the home page or search for your pet's symptoms or care need. On the results page, you can also choose '24-Hour ER' and 'Open Now.' Call the clinic to confirm it can see your pet. Vetmodo is a directory and is not a substitute for professional veterinary advice.
Are the clinic listings verified?
Vetmodo builds listings from documented public and clinic-provided sources. A claimed listing means an authorized clinic account can maintain it; claiming alone does not add a Verified badge. That badge appears only when Vetmodo has separately verified the listing. Information can change, so confirm hours, services, availability, and credentials directly with the clinic before visiting.
How does Vetmodo decide the order of search results?
Best Match uses the care need and filters you selected, distance, and eligible Featured or Spotlight placement. Urgent and emergency searches do not use paid grouping and emphasize required capabilities and proximity. Open Now limits results using published hours. Paid placement is labeled, you can choose Distance when available, and Vetmodo does not use star ratings to order results.
How do clinic promotions work?
Participating hospitals create their own offers and determine eligibility, availability, and redemption terms. Promotions are arranged directly between the pet owner and the participating hospital at the time of the appointment. Vetmodo does not administer or guarantee promotional offers. Confirm the offer with the hospital before your visit.
Can I rate a clinic?
Vetmodo members with verified email addresses can submit a 1-to-5-star rating and manage it from their account. A public average appears after a clinic has at least three published ratings. Vetmodo does not currently collect written reviews.
Where can I learn more about pet health?
Visit our Resources section for articles on emergency care, preventive care, nutrition, behavior, and more.
How does Vetmodo handle my data?
See our Privacy Policy for details on what we collect, how we use it, and the third-party services we rely on (Clerk for authentication, Stripe for payments, AWS S3 for photo storage).

How do I claim my hospital listing?
Start by searching for your hospital by name, address, or phone and selecting its listing. Choose an ownership-verification method, then sign in or create and verify your account to submit the claim. A qualifying hospital-domain email may be approved automatically; other claims can require review. After approval, choose the free Basic plan or a paid plan and manage the listing from your dashboard. See the For Clinics page for more details.
What does each subscription tier include?
Basic (Free) includes standard search placement and one profile photo. Featured ($20/month) adds featured search placement, analytics, up to five photos, and up to two public promotions. Spotlight ($95/month) adds the highest search placement, up to twelve Hospital Tags, up to ten photos, and up to three public promotions. Paid plans can be billed monthly or annually; annual billing is discounted by 20%. Full comparison on the For Clinics page.
Why do some edits show as 'pending review'?
Some listing changes, including hours and ordinary self-service tags, save directly. Core profile changes and verification-required tags are reviewed before they appear publicly. Your dashboard shows pending and rejected requests, and approved changes are published. Review timing can vary.
How do tags and services work?
Hospital Tags are structured search filters for details such as care, specialties, certifications, cost, and access. Plan limits apply, and some tags require supporting information and approval. The separate Services Offered list appears as content on your profile rather than as a filter. Keep both accurate so pet owners can find and assess your clinic.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes. Paid plans are available with monthly or annual billing. You can cancel at any time from the billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not pro-rate refunds.
How are clinics imported?
Our nationwide import pipeline builds baseline listings from public sources, including clinic websites, official or state licensing sources where available, and public mapping and geocoding data. Imported listings start without an owner and carry public information. Owners can claim a listing and submit details that public sources may not provide, such as services, specialties, and high-quality photos.
